Governmental Liability and Immunity

The Governmental Immunity Act provides governmental agencies with immunity from tort liability. In addition, the Act provides the highest executive officials of all levels of government absolute immunity from all tort liability whenever the officials are acting within their executive authority. Seibert and Dloski has been involved in hundreds of lawsuits over the years in which governmental immunity has been raised as a defense to claims asserted against various governmental agencies, commission members and municipal employees. The firm has litigated governmental immunity issues in state trial courts, the Michigan Court of Appeals, United States District Courts and United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
